You have now learned different ways for changing the font in Emacs. You will not do that often, but it can be useful to get a font that fits your monitor and eyes perfectly. When you get used to parentheses matching and font-lock mode, you will find that these are invaluable tools that make it easier for you to get an overview and get find the right context very fast. If you haven't already played with using different faces for font-lock mode, it might be a good idea to try it out now.
